About Us

At Icognia, we see ourselves as a conduit between great employers and great candidates.

As a recruitment agency, we have a responsibility to our candidates to ensure that the employers we introduce are good employers who provide good working conditions. That means investing time. Before we work for a new client, we do our homework to ensure they are employers of repute. There are some fabulous hotels with Michelin Stars and multiple AA Rosettes that we simply work recruit for, and that’s because they don’t deliver on what they say to new employees, resulting in unhappiness and a short-term stay.

From Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland, before we engage with a new client, we visit every hotel but not to look in wonder at the views or taste the amazing food or try the sumptuously well-appointed bedrooms. We look at the working conditions, the staff accommodation and talk to current staff members to obtain an understanding of the culture of the property, so that we have a clearer definition of the type of person who will not only survive, but importantly thrive and contribute to the hotel and therefore be happy.

So that we have a better understanding of you and whether or not you would be a good fit for a particular property, ideally, we like to conduct a video interview with every candidate, which lasts about 30 minutes.

Can’t find what you are looking for?

Try our Concierge service. One in three of our placements are made through Concierge.

It’s free to candidates. All we ask is that you give us a little of your time so we can understand what you are looking for, and where, and we will draw up a list of potential properties that we think match your requirements. Many of our placements are made to hotels that aren’t actively looking for staff. You have a look at the different hotels and draw up your short list of where you would like to work, and we do the rest, arranging interviews.
